Understanding the Context
Hakuba (白馬), located in the Northern Alps of Nagano Prefecture, is one of Japan's most popular ski areas, offering good snow and several large ski resorts to choose from. Located in northwestern Nagano Prefecture at the base of the 3,000-m tall Northern Japan Alps, “Hakuba Valley” boasts 10 resorts blessed with abundant snowfall and high-quality powder snow. Hakuba is located in a mountain basin in far northwestern Nagano Prefecture, bordered by Toyama Prefecture to the west. The 2900 meter Ushiro-Tateyama Mountains border the village to the west.
